PGDM

PGDM or MBA: Which is the better career option?

This is the biggest question of all time, after graduation, most of the students get confused as which course to choose for post-graduation. In India, there are several post-graduation courses are available. But, if you are looking for a management degree then you have MBA or PGDM as career options. Still, if you are in dilemma as which is the better career option out of MBA or PGDM, we must tell you that both have their own USPs and there are many differences too.

PGDM Course, A diploma

PGDM stands as Post Graduation Diploma in Management. Now, most of the students get confused when they heard the word "diploma" as they have a view that PGDM is a diploma, not a degree. Yes, that's true that it is a diploma course and the reason behind this is that, an autonomous (self-governing) Institute can only offer diploma in management courses as it is not affiliated to any university, hence, these institutes cannot conduct management courses like MBA. Many institutes do not offer MBA degrees, they only provide PGDM or PGP diploma as they are independent institutes.

On the same place, there are several colleges which are affiliated to AICTE  (All India Council for Technical Education) and they provide PGDM course. Some business schools are providing AICTE PGDM course which will be independently run by the institute and will be approved by AICTE, the ministry of HRD and government of India.

Benefits of Doing PGDM Course

University approved colleges cannot change the syllabus independently, it takes 3 to 5 or sometimes 7 years to change the syllabus. However, autonomous institutes offer the latest syllabus as they are the sole decision maker. Hence, students are trained on the trending and current market topics. This is one of the important benefits of the PGDM course out of the long list of benefits.
