During the hectic routine of life, people sometimes fail to notice why they have been suffering from a lot of issues in the recent times. These problems could be of any nature. A few examples of such matters could be stated as incurring financial losses frequently, constant arguments and quarrels between family members, prolonged cases of law in courts, unemployment problems or difficulties in trade, infertility problems, etc.

Ways to perform Pitra Dosh Nivaran

Some of the methods to act as remedies for the said ‘sins’ done to the predecessors could be explained in brief as given in the following pointers.

    • Shraddh- This is one of the most commonly performed rituals to satisfy the souls of the demised in the family. A ceremony is conducted under the supervision of a priest for the same and later a feast is served to people who have been invited to take part in the ritual including holy men. Cows and beggars are also fed in this tradition.

    • Brahmin Bhoj- The blessings of a number of Brahmins are sought by feeding them sumptuous food, offering hospitality as well as giving them dakshina or fees to show respect to them.

    • Pind Daan- Cooked rice, black sesame seeds, water, curd, sandalwood paste and flowers form the constituents of this custom.

    • Tarpan- This is usually performed at the bank of any water body like a river, lake or sea. Offering of water to God is the indication in here.

    • Pitra Sukt Puja- Praying to the Sun and a moonless night chanting holy mantras are believed to be a great way of performing a Pitra Dosh Nivaran ceremony.

Such rituals are basically done to impress the souls of the deceased ones in the family through which it is expected that they would shower their blessings for the next living kith and kin to have a joyful and peace-filled life ahead. Otherwise it is believed that all sorts of sorrows would rule over the life of the living members of the family of such deceased ones.
